Proverbs 1:20

“Wisdom shouts in the street, She lifts her voice in the square.” (NASB)

STRONGS HEBREW/GREEK ORIGINS

“Wisdom shouts (qara': calls, cries out, proclaims) in the street (hamah: roar, noise, disquieted, troubled, clamorous, concourse, mourning, tumultuous, commotion), She lifts her voice in the square.”

SUMMARY

Wisdom calls out and proclaims in the nosiy and troubled concourse, She lifts her voice in the square.

MEDITATION

There is such depth to this verse. I’d like you to go back and read the Hebrew used to define “street”. Amongst the clamor and noise of life, Wisdom calls. It is as if I can see Her standing there amidst the news of the economy, the fears of the future, the hate, the anger and the disappointments of mankind that are seemingly shouted from rooftops. In the midst of it all, She calls to you and I. Who will hear Her? Who will choose to heed Her words and dwell in peace and rest? Today, tune in to the calls of Wisdom and then follow Her. Learn to drown out the noise of this world and hear Her utterances for She is calling to you today.
