"Do not love the world nor the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him." (NASB)
STRONGS HEBREW/GREEK ORIGINS
"Do not love (agapao: welcome, entertain, be fond of, love dearly, well pleased with) the world (kosmos: earthly constitution, order, government, world affairs, the aggregate of things earthly) nor the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love (agape: charity, dear, brotherly, affection, good will, benevolence) of the Father is not in (en: with, among, through) him."
SUMMARY
Do not welcome and love worldly order, nor the things that are within it. If anyone is well pleased with worldly matters, the affectionate love of the Father is not in and through him.
MEDITATION
Without question, everyday decisions must be made that really have no eternal purpose. But today I want to challenge you to have as few ties to worldly things as possible. Don't be entertained and think too fondly of worldly goings on as the love of them has the ability to keep you from the Father. Keep your gaze set straight. Today, be aware of where your heart leads you - don't give up your love and affections to earthly affairs.
