Luke 11:28

"But He said, 'On the contrary, blessed are those who hear the word of God and observe it.'" (NASB)

STRONGS HEBREW/GREEK ORIGINS

"But He said, 'On the contrary, blessed (makarios: well off, happy, supremely blessed) are those who hear (akouo: hearken, give audience, to attend to, consider, understand, perceive, comprehend) the word of God and observe (phulasso: keep, guard, keep watch, to guard for one's self so as not to violate) it.'"

SUMMARY

Jesus said, “Supremely blessed are those who hearken and consider the word of God and keep it, without violation.”

MEDITATION

Obviously Jesus was attempting to encourage us to realize that the hearing of the Word is not enough. Just as I recently told a friend of mine, my willingness to help them get through some tough times will only be of benefit to them if they take the time to call me. Likewise, the Word is only beneficial for those who hearken Its voice and obey Its commands. It is an active interaction that we can have and the result is that we will be supremely blessed. Today, be diligent to consider and understand the Word of God and then, when given the opportunity, observe Its instruction.
