John 13:35

“By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.” (NASB)

STRONGS HEBREW/GREEK ORIGINS

“By this all men will know (ginosko: perceive, understand, get a knowledge of) that you are My disciples (mathetes: a learner, pupil), if you have love (agape: charity, dear, brotherly love, affection, good will) for one another.” (NASB)

SUMMARY

By this all men will see and know that you are Mine, if you have great love and affection for one another.

MEDITATION

One could flip this around to say that, “if you don’t have agape love for one another, no one will know that you are a disciple of Jesus Christ.” It is imperative that our defining characteristic is that we love the LORD with all that is within us and love others with unconditional love. We can disagree, we can go down different paths, but love must remain. Today, go deeper than just seeking harmony with others, seek to love them with the same great, unconditional love that you have been given by God Himself.

This reminds me to love as I am loved [by God]. That's a whole lot of pure love. Thanks for this one, good reminder to "be" His love on the earth.
