John 6:58

“This is the bread which came down out of heaven; not as the fathers ate and died; he who eats this bread will live forever.” (NASB)

STRONGS HEBREW/GREEK ORIGINS

“This is the bread (artos: food composed of flour mixed with water and baked) which came down (katabainō: stepped down, descended) out of heaven; not as the fathers ate and died; he who eats (trōgō: act of chewing, partaking of) this bread will live (zaō: to be in full vigor, fresh, strong, efficient, active, blessed) forever.”

SUMMARY

Jesus said, “I am the food which descended out of heaven; not like the manna that the fathers ate and died; but he who partakes of Me will have true life, full of vigor and strength, forever.”

MEDITATION

Despite how awesome it would be to experience manna from heaven, I must see that we’ve been given something, Someone, so much greater! While the manna that God sent down to His people was necessary and effective, it only sustained their flesh. When the Christ came in the form of Jesus, the food from heaven that would supply you and I with eternal life came down. Today, thank Him for the food – the food that has brought true life… forever.
