John 4:41

“Many more believed because of [Jesus’] word.” (NASB)

STRONGS HEBREW/GREEK ORIGINS

“Many more believed (pisteuo: commit unto, put trust within, to think to be true, to be persuaded of, place confidence in) because of [Jesus’] word (logos: saying, account, speech, uttered by a living voice).”

SUMMARY

Many more put their trust and confidence in Jesus because of the words that He uttered and the account that He gave.

MEDITATION

I know this is as simple as we can get, but there is great truth within this small verse. Just as in the days when Jesus, walked upon this earth in bodily form, His Word brings life. Since we know that He is the Word, the Word has never changed. Therefore, the Word on our lips will cause “many more to believe”. I challenge you this morning – how many people have believed because of the Word that proceeds from your mouth? Now I’m not sending you on a mission to evangelize the world, but who we are should be exhibiting the Word to those around us. Take a few minutes and look into this today – what account is your living voice giving?

Proverbs 4:25

“Let your eyes look directly ahead, And let your gaze be fixed straight in front of you.” (NASB)
STRONGS HEBREW/GREEK ORIGINS

“Let your eyes look (nabat: behold, consider, regard, see, respect, pay attention to, show regard to) directly ahead, And let your gaze be fixed straight (yashar: direct, right, well, upright, level, just, lawful) in front of you.”

SUMMARY

Let your eyes pay attention to what is straight ahead, and let your gaze be fixed on what is level and upright before you.

MEDITATION

I’ll be the first to admit that it’s often easy to look at the circumstances that are all around me. Thankfully, I came along before they diagnosed kids with ADD because my eyes, when not submitted to the LORD, run all about - seemingly on their own mission. But may it not be so as we now walk according to the Spirit. Distractions only turn us to the right and to the left – getting us off track (as verse 27 addresses). Today, be intent on keeping your gaze upon the LORD. Allow nothing to capture your attention but Him.

Matthew 7:7

“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.” (NASB)

STRONGS HEBREW/GREEK ORIGINS

“Ask (aiteo: desire, beg, require, crave, call), and it will be given (didomi: granted, put, shown, made, delivered) to you; seek (zeteo: seek for, go about, desire, to seek in order to find, thinking, meditating, reasoning, to enquire into, strive after), and you will find (heurisko: to come upon, hit upon, to meet with, to find by enquiry, thought, examination, scrutiny, observation, to find out by practice and experience); knock (krouo: to knock: at the door), and it will be opened to you.”

SUMMARY

Ask, require an answer and it will given to you; seek in order to find and you will come upon that which you seek; knock at the door and that door will be opened up for you.

MEDITATION

You know, it is so odd to me how we complicate the Word so. This is such a simple metaphor that should be so easily taken as literal. In the natural, when you need something, you simply ask. Two things are necessary for the actions in this verse to work.

#1: You must see your need. #2: You must take action for your need to be met (ASK).
#1: You must see that you are lacking. #2: You must take action to find what you lack (SEEK).
#1: You are outside and need what it is inside #2: You must take action and make your presence known (KNOCK).

You see, your action causes His action. God will not make you do anything – it is His desire for you to willingly take the necessary action to seek Him for all that you are in need of. I believe this is why intimacy is so vital in our relationship with the Father. Today, don’t just ask “why’s” or just wonder - ask, seek, knock… He promises to give what you need, reveal what you’re looking for and open the door in which you need to walk through.

Galatians 4:29

“But as at that time he who was born according to the flesh persecuted him who was born according to the Spirit, so it is now also.” (NASB)

STRONGS HEBREW/GREEK ORIGINS

“But as at that time he who was born according to (kata: after, in, by, toward) the flesh (sarx: carnal, carnally minded) persecuted (dioko: follow after, to make to run or flee, put to flight, drive away, to run swiftly in order to catch a person or thing, to to pursue in a hostile manner, in any way whatever to harass, trouble, molest) him who was born according to the Spirit, so it is now also.”

SUMMARY

Just as at that time, he who was born to seek after the fleshly and carnal persecuted and were hostile toward him who was born according to the Spirit - so it still is now.

MEDITATION

I’ve brought up this point several times within articles that I write for my other blog – we do not know persecution as Christians in this country. We’ve been led to believe that we’re enduring some great tribulation and harassment if someone laughs at us for carrying a Bible. My friends, we must raise the bar. Our entire lives must be representative of a “Spirit walk” lifestyle. When we walk according to the Spirit, we will not look like every day, ordinary Christians. Today, resolve to walk as Jesus did upon the earth – willing to endure whatever persecution that may follow.

Acts 4:20

“For we cannot stop speaking about what we have seen and heard.” (NASB)

STRONGS HEBREW/GREEK ORIGINS

“For we cannot stop speaking (laleo: saying, telling, talking, preaching, uttering) about what we have seen (eido: known, beheld, look, perceive, notice, discern, discover, observe) and heard (akouo: hearken, give audience).”

SUMMARY

For we cannot stop telling about what we have personally beheld and heard.

MEDITATION

What do you speak of most often? What is found upon your lips more than anything else? Is it your family, your job, your worldly reputation? Here we see Peter and John state clearly, “we cannot stop talking about the amazing things that God has done for us!” Today, deliberately speak on His awesome deeds – awesome deeds that He has done on your behalf!

John 13:35

“By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.” (NASB)

STRONGS HEBREW/GREEK ORIGINS

“By this all men will know (ginosko: perceive, understand, get a knowledge of) that you are My disciples (mathetes: a learner, pupil), if you have love (agape: charity, dear, brotherly love, affection, good will) for one another.” (NASB)

SUMMARY

By this all men will see and know that you are Mine, if you have great love and affection for one another.

MEDITATION

One could flip this around to say that, “if you don’t have agape love for one another, no one will know that you are a disciple of Jesus Christ.” It is imperative that our defining characteristic is that we love the LORD with all that is within us and love others with unconditional love. We can disagree, we can go down different paths, but love must remain. Today, go deeper than just seeking harmony with others, seek to love them with the same great, unconditional love that you have been given by God Himself.

Psalm 34:1

“I will bless the LORD at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth.” (NASB)

STRONGS HEBREW/GREEK ORIGINS

“I will bless (barak: salute, praised, kneel down, congratulate) the LORD at all times (`eth: season, when, always, occurrences, occasions); His praise (tehillah: adoration, thanksgiving, renown, fame) shall continually (tamiyd: daily, always, ever, perpetual, continual, evermore) be in my mouth.”

SUMMARY

I will bless and praise the LORD on all occasions and in all seasons; His fame and renown shall daily, now and forever more, be in my mouth.

MEDITATION

What an absolutely incredible statement! When things don’t go my way, I will praise the LORD! When my car breaks down, I will bless His name! When life is seemingly unfair or riddled with hardships, His awesome renown will be found on my lips! May this be our heart’s desire - may this be our goal. It is time that the world sees a Believer whose hope and love for the LORD is not dependent on their circumstances, but soley rooted and established in declaring His greatness at all times!

Hebrews 13:15

“Through Him then, let us continually offer up a sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of lips that give thanks to His name.” (NASB)

STRONGS HEBREW/GREEK ORIGINS

“Through Him then, let us continually (diapantos: constantly, always) offer (anaphero: offer up, bear, bring up, lead up, carry up) up a sacrifice of praise (ainesis: thank offering) to God, that is, the fruit of lips that give thanks (homologeo: confess, profess, acknowledge, declare, speak out freely, celebrate, praise) to His name.”

SUMMARY

Through Him then, let us always be found offering up a sacrifice of praise and thanks to God, that is, the fruit of our lips that declare what He has done and praise His name.

MEDITATION

After the time when the presence of the LORD vacated the temple and Jesus came to the earth, God no longer desired and required ritualistic worship. Animal sacrifices were done away with – specific duties that were only to be carried out at certain specified times by certain priests were brought to an end. You see, God now desires you to be His temple, His tabernacle, His dwelling. We no longer have to go through steps and rituals, He has made a way in order for us all to continually be in relationship with Him. Today, begin to throw out your “have to’s” and limitations and, moment by moment, live a life that is overrun with praise!

Matthew 24:13

“But the one who endures to the end, he will be saved.” (NASB)

STRONGS HEBREW/GREEK ORIGINS

“But the one who endures (hupomeno: take patiently, tarry behind, abide, to not recede or flee, suffer) to the end (telos: uttermost, finally, ending, termination, the limit at which a thing ceases to be, that by which a thing is finished, its close), he will be saved (sozo: made whole, healed, kept safe and sound, rescued from danger or destruction, restored to health, preserved).”

SUMMARY

The one who does not flee or turn back to the uttermost end, he will be made whole and complete and rescued from destruction.

MEDITATION

This verse is at a place in Scripture where Jesus is speaking of His return. After speaking of events that will be taking place, He then tells His disciples this interesting phrase. Without bringing up a lot of theological issues regarding rapture theories, I challenge you to examine what it means to “endure to the end”. As I’ve stated before, we are to be an overcoming people that rest in God’s power and authority over our lives. We are not to flee from danger and trials – we are to overcome them! Salvation is not a "decision" to be made, it is an ongoing life to be lived. Today, be an overcomer, a victor – prepare yourself now to endure to the end so that you may be saved.

Psalm 71:16

“I will come with the mighty deeds of the Lord GOD; I will make mention of Your righteousness, Yours alone.” (NASB)

STRONGS HEBREW/GREEK ORIGINS

“I will come with the mighty deeds (gebuwrah: might, strength, power, mighty acts, bravery) of the Lord GOD; I will make mention (zakar: remember, mindful, think, call to mind) of Your righteousness, Yours alone.”

SUMMARY

I will come with the mighty deeds and strength of the LORD; I will call to mind and remember His righteousness, His alone.

MEDITATION

There’s nothing harder to tolerate sometimes than people who brag about themselves - their knowledge, their revelation, their wisdom. The thing is, we all can be found “tooting our own horn” now and then. May we strive to get to a place where the only good thing we have to share is the greatness of God and His righteousness. Today, if you feel the urge to make your accomplishments known, purposely glorify the works of the Father instead and declare His mighty deeds.

Romans 7:15

“For what I am doing, I do not understand; for I am not practicing what I would like to do, but I am doing the very thing I hate.” (NASB)

STRONGS HEBREW/GREEK ORIGINS

“For what I am doing (katergazomai: work, deed, perform, accomplish, achieve), I do not understand; for I am not practicing (prasso: do, commit, deed, keep, to exercise, to be busy with, carry on) what I would like to do, but I am doing the very thing I hate (miseo: pursue with hatred, detest).”

SUMMARY

I don’t understand the deeds that I’m doing, for I am not carrying out what I would like to, but I am doing the very thing that I detest and hate.

MEDITATION

Paul hit the nail on the head, did he not? How many times have you felt this way? Whether this epiphany arrives in the midst of the “doing” or after the fact, it is reality. My flesh and my spirit are not in agreement whatsoever. So what are we to do? Today, let’s stand together and tell our flesh Who is the boss. The Christ that is within me is only Lord personally within me as much as I allow Him to be. We must willfully and deliberately choose to put this flesh to death – when we do so, all of its detestable desires must go!

Psalm 50:15

“Call upon Me in the day of trouble; I shall rescue you, and you will honor Me.” (NASB)

STRONGS HEBREW/GREEK ORIGINS

“Call (qara': call out, summon, invite, call for, cry out, commission) upon Me in the day of trouble (tsarah: affliction, adversity, anguish, tribulation, distress); I shall rescue (chalats: deliver, loose, prepare, remove, draw out, draw off, take off, withdraw, equip, arm for war, rescue, make strong, brace up) you, and you will honor (kabad: great, glorious, glorify) Me.”

SUMMARY

Cry out and invite Me in the day of adversity and tribulation; I will prepare you for battle and deliver you and you will honor and glorify Me.

MEDITATION

What an incredible promise! You do realize that God means what He says and says what He means, right? As you face the trials and adversities of life today, cry out to the LORD for He is your help. Remember, when you may want to escape and run, it may be that He desires to arm you for battle. He is the Victor! When the victory that He promises comes, praise Him, glorify Him, honor Him. He is our Victor!

Genesis 9:12

“God said, ‘This is the sign of the covenant which I am making between Me and you and every living creature that is with you, for all successive generations.’” (NASB)

STRONGS HEBREW/GREEK ORIGINS

“God said, ‘This is the sign ('owth: token, ensigna, signal, distinguishing mark, proof) of the covenant (beriyth: alliance, pledge, constitution) which I am making between Me and you and every living creature that is with you, for all successive (`owlam or `olam: everlasting, old, perpetual, evermore, forever) generations (dowr: all, many).’”

SUMMARY

God said, “This is the sign and proof of the pledge which I am making between Me and you and every living creature that is with you, for each and every generation to come forever more.”

MEDITATION

Yesterday, my wife and I attended a family gathering where many generations were present. As I looked about the group throughout the day, I thought on how God’s plans and covenants are exactly the same for each one of them – no matter their age or experiences. He extended His mercy and love to all generations. He is not One that is able to go back on His word or be unfaithful to it. Today, realize the depth and truth that is God.

Luke 9:27

“I tell you the truth, some who are standing here will not taste death before they see the kingdom of God.” (NASB)

STRONGS HEBREW/GREEK ORIGINS

“I tell you the truth, some who are standing (histemi: set, established, placed) here will not taste (geuomai: eat, partake of, experience) death (thanatos: death of the body, separation of the soul and the body by which the life on earth is ended; in the widest sense, death comprising all the miseries arising from sin, as well physical death as the loss of a life consecrated to God and blessed in Him on earth) before they see the kingdom (basileia: The LORD’s kingdom, royal power, kingship, dominion, rule; the royal power of Jesus Christ as the triumphant Messiah) of God.”

SUMMARY

I tell you the truth, some who are standing here, established upon the earth, will not experience and partake of death before they see My power and dominion in the Kingdom of God.

MEDITATION

I believe that this verse could be interpreted several ways. But with that in mind, one thing is for certain - it is imperative to know what kingdom you are living for. Do you know that Jesus always referred to a kingdom not seen with physical eyes – a kingdom that is here and now? I challenge you this morning to seek the LORD for unveiled eyes. His Kingdom will never be beheld with carnal vision that is rooted in the flesh. Today, rise above your earthly mindset and live for a Kingdom where Christ is King and all boundaries and limitations no longer hold you down.

Revelation 1:10

“I was in the Spirit on the Lord's day, and I heard behind me a loud voice like the sound of a trumpet.” (NASB)

STRONGS HEBREW/GREEK ORIGINS

“I was in the Spirit on the Lord's day, and I heard (akouo: hearken, give audience, hearer, not deaf, to attend to, consider what is or has been said, understand, perceive, comprehend) behind me a loud voice (phone [fo-nay']: sound, speech, tongue, a disclosure) like the sound of a trumpet.”

SUMMARY

I was in the Spirit on the Lord’s day, and I heard and perceived behind me a loud voice disclosing things to me as the sound of a trumpet.

MEDITATION

Early this morning, as my wife and I walked, we heard a train coming through town. We knew from its sound which direction it was headed and that it was not stopping. It was easily discernable for the noises of everyday life had yet to start at this time of day. Is it not the same with the Spirit? Do you hear the move of the Spirit in your life? Can you assess the direction that Its wind is blowing because you’re hearing it without distraction and competition? Today, take steps to learn the voice of the LORD – and then follow.

Psalm 139:13

“For Thou hast possessed my reins: Thou hast covered me in my mother's womb.” (KJV)

STRONGS HEBREW/GREEK ORIGINS

“For Thou hast possessed (qanah: buy, get, purchased, possessor, owner, recover, create) my reins (kilyah: kidneys, seat of emotion and affection): Thou hast covered (cakak: defense, hedge in, joined or weaved together, fence about, overshadowed) me in my mother's womb.”

SUMMARY

For You created and possessed my innermost being – the real me – You have weaved me together and overshadowed me in my mother’s womb.

MEDITATION

I chose this version because I love the way it depicts our origin. We were possessed by God – He, at our inception in Him eons ago, held on to us. He did more than just form us, He intricately weaved us together and overshadowed us. Do you see yourself as one important enough for God to go to such great lengths for? You see, He had indescribable love for you long before He sent Jesus to this earth to redeem you back unto Him. Today, get to know Your Creator better - thank Him for His great love for you.

Revelation 2:26

“He who overcomes, and he who keeps My deeds until the end, to Him I will give authority over the nations.” (NASB)

STRONGS HEBREW/GREEK ORIGINS

“He who overcomes (nikao: conquer, prevail, get the victory, victorious over all His foes), and he who keeps (tereo: reserve, observe, watch, preserve, hold fast to) My deeds (ergon: works, deeds, doings, labor, business) until the end (telos: uttermost, finally, ending), to Him I will give authority (exousia: power, right, liberty, jurisdiction, strength, leave or permission, the power of rule or government) over the nations.”

SUMMARY

He who prevails and gets the victory as well as observes My business until the uttermost end, to Him I will give the power and jurisdiction over the nations.

MEDITATION

Now here is a loaded verse that is seldom ever discussed. With message after message of “escape” being blared to the Body, this stands in stark contrast. As a follower of Christ, you are to be an overcomer, not an escaper. When trials and tribulations come your way, do you run straight at them as the aggressor or do you back away and wield a rubber sword? Today, be an overcomer! Prevail! Get the victory! Be about your Father’s business and walk victorious today – you can do it!

Proverbs 8:22

“The LORD possessed me at the beginning of His way, Before His works of old.” (NASB)

STRONGS HEBREW/GREEK ORIGINS

“The LORD possessed (qanah: buy, get, purchased, possessor, owner, acquired, created, obtained) me at the beginning of His way (derek: journey, manner, road), Before His works of old.”

SUMMARY

The LORD possessed and acquired me at the beginning of His journey, before His works of old.

MEDITATION

Friend, you cannot surprise God. He is all knowing and was before all the time and space that our minds can even comprehend. In that place, eons ago, He created and possessed you. You were His prize creation and were hidden in Him until the day you would come to earth to be born in the flesh. Have you returned to your Father? Have you, via Jesus Christ returned to the LORD that you were created to dwell with? Today, address this reality. You were created for this – in this alone will you find your true purpose.

Hebrews 3:4

“For every house is built by someone, but the builder of all things is God.” (NASB)

STRONGS HEBREW/GREEK ORIGINS

“For every house (oikos: house, household, home , abode, habitation, dwelling place) is built (kataskeuazo: prepare, build, make, constructed, erected) by someone, but the builder of all things (pas: every, whosoever, everyone, whole, every thing) is God.”

SUMMARY

For every habitation is constructed by someone, but the builder of absolutely every thing and every one is God.

MEDITATION

Are you building God a house? Last night, a new friend spoke of an experience she had many years ago. She and her family had relocated and things had not gone as they had planned – times were really tough. In the midst of her literally crying out to God asking, “Why are You doing this?” He responded with a question of His own. “Have you built Me a house?” (summarized) You see, God is looking for a place to dwell. His eyes go about over the earth looking for those who desire intimacy with Him. He’s not interested in fancy church buildings made of wood and stubble – He longs for a people to be His residence. Will you build Him a house? Will you be the temple where He can reside both day and night?

Romans 8:14

“For all who are being led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.” (NASB)

STRONGS HEBREW/GREEK ORIGINS

“For all who are being led (ago: attach to one's self as an attendant; guide, direct; move, of forces and influences) by the Spirit of God, these are sons (huios: son of God - used to describe those whom God esteems as sons, whom he loves, protects and benefits above other; a mature son) of God.”

SUMMARY

For all who are being led and moved by the Spirit of God, these are the mature ones that God has esteemed as sons of His very own.

MEDITATION

Today, it seems that we define who is a follower of Christ by who is the most gifted… or most charismatic… or most biblically literate. We are in error when we do such a thing, for the true sons of God, His children and Kingdom heirs will be known by their obedience to the Spirit. Maturing men and women who desire to be moved by the Spirit of God as He defines necessary – these are the mature sons of the Living God. Today, seek to be found as one of these favored ones – and make the company that you keep likewise.

Matthew 16:15

“(Jesus) said to them, ‘But who do you say that I am?’. (NASB)

STRONGS HEBREW/GREEK ORIGINS

Not necessary.

SUMMARY

Not necessary.

MEDITATION

Today, just as He did with His disciples two thousand years ago, Jesus Christ has one question for you – “Who do you say that I am?”. Meditate on that today… I mean really ponder on it. Who is this Christ to you? Is He your absolute all in all? I mean, really, is He? Is He your provider, your strength, your abilities, your best friend… your everything? Take some time today to sit down and assess who Jesus really is… to you.

1 Corinthians 6:17

“(But) the one who joins himself to the Lord is one spirit with Him.” (NASB)

STRONGS HEBREW/GREEK ORIGINS

“(But) the one who joins (kollao: cleave, be joined, keep company, to glue, to glue together, cement, fasten together, fasten firmly together) himself to the Lord is one spirit (pneuma: a movement of air of the wind; the vital principal by which the body is animated; the power by which the human being feels, thinks, decides; possessed of the power of knowing, desiring, deciding, and acting; the disposition or influence which fills and governs the soul of any one) with Him.”

SUMMARY

The one who fastens himself firmly together with the Lord is one movement in unison with Him.

MEDITATION

Do you understand this? I pray that you do. When you are joined with the Lord, you and the Father have no separation, no division – you are one. So very few seem to grasp this truth and even less daily walk in it. You are not a “Christian”, you are Christ, if you are fastened together with Him. There is no distinction, no “you”. Remember, for you are dead and it is no longer you that is alive but Christ within you. Will you be joined to the Lord today? Will you lay aside everything that hinders in order to be one spirit with Him?

Luke 8:48

“And He said to her, ‘Daughter, your faith has made you well; go in peace.’ (NASB)

STRONGS HEBREW/GREEK ORIGINS

“And He said to her, ‘Daughter, your faith (pistis: assurance, belief, conviction of the truth, belief with the predominate idea of trust or confidence) has made you well (sozo: saved, made whole, healed); go in peace (eirene: rest, quietness, state of tranquility, security, safety, prosperity).’

SUMMARY

And He said to her, “Daughter, your belief and trust has saved and healed you; go in peace, security and rest.”

MEDITATION

For some reason, many people have a hard time when approaching the topic of healing. It’s somehow been deemed as “not for today” because others have abused and perverted it throughout the years. However, when looking at the text alone, we see that “well” is the same word used to describe salvation (sozo). It is wholeness, wellness, completeness. You see, healing is a byproduct of God’s much greater plan. That is why we see, with this woman, that Jesus said “your faith has saved you” – when she was made whole, she was healed. Some will be, as this, instantaneously seen – others may be a process, but we must have the faith in what we do not yet see. Today, believe God for something you don’t see any results for or perhaps don’t even yet have even any feelings for. He has made you whole.

Exodus 34:5

“The LORD descended in the cloud and stood there with (Moses) as he called upon the name of the LORD.” (NASB)

STRONGS HEBREW/GREEK ORIGINS

“The LORD descended (yarad: down, fell) in the cloud and stood (yatsab: to place, set, stand, set or station oneself, present oneself 1a) (Hithpael) to station oneself, take one's stand, stand, present oneself, stand with someone) there with (Moses) as he called upon (qara': cried, proclaimed, called out, summoned, invited, commissioned, appointed) the name of the LORD.”

SUMMARY

The LORD came down in the cloud and stood there with Moses as he invited and cried out to the name of the LORD.

MEDITATION

Today is a very special day on the Jewish calendar. After the Israelites alienated God by worshipping the golden calf, Moses ascended Mount Sinai to ask God for forgiveness. On the tenth day of the Hebrew month of Tishrei which is Yom Kippur, today, Moses descended Mount Sinai with the second Tablets. Thus, on the first Yom Kippur (approximately 3,500 years ago), the Israelites succeeded to atone for their sins and renegotiate their covenant with God. At the time of the Temple, the high priest performed a ritual of atonement for all the children of Israel on Yom Kippur, today. It was the only time that the high priest entered the Temple's Holy of Holies (Leviticus 16). Today, I encourage you to grasp the significance of this date. Through Christ, we can now enter the Holy of Holies and intimately know our Creator each and ever day.

Jonah 4:4

“The LORD said (to Jonah), 'Do you have good reason to be angry?'.” (NASB)

STRONGS HEBREW/GREEK ORIGINS

“The LORD said (to Jonah), 'Do you have good reason to be angry (charah: kindled, wroth, displeased, fret, incensed, grieved, furious)?'.”

SUMMARY

The Lord said to Jonah, after he told the Lord to take His life, for death would be better, “Do you have any good reason to be so displeased and furious?” (also see verse 9.)

MEDITATION

I know this is an odd verse to choose, but I do have a purpose. Lately, I’ve been enamored with the mystery of how God can love a people that do not love Him in return. The majority of all mankind know not God and shake their fists at Him as if He is the cause of all of the worlds calamities. I’ve been reading the account of Jonah and seeing this as well. We grumble, complain and are disobedient and God is only interested in one thing – our obedience to His plans. Today, remember that, if anyone has a right to be angry, it is God alone. If anyone has a right to be vengeful, it is God for most of His prize Creation chooses to go their own way every moment of every day. Will you live a life pleasing to Him alone today?

John 6:58

“This is the bread which came down out of heaven; not as the fathers ate and died; he who eats this bread will live forever.” (NASB)

STRONGS HEBREW/GREEK ORIGINS

“This is the bread (artos: food composed of flour mixed with water and baked) which came down (katabainō: stepped down, descended) out of heaven; not as the fathers ate and died; he who eats (trōgō: act of chewing, partaking of) this bread will live (zaō: to be in full vigor, fresh, strong, efficient, active, blessed) forever.”

SUMMARY

Jesus said, “I am the food which descended out of heaven; not like the manna that the fathers ate and died; but he who partakes of Me will have true life, full of vigor and strength, forever.”

MEDITATION

Despite how awesome it would be to experience manna from heaven, I must see that we’ve been given something, Someone, so much greater! While the manna that God sent down to His people was necessary and effective, it only sustained their flesh. When the Christ came in the form of Jesus, the food from heaven that would supply you and I with eternal life came down. Today, thank Him for the food – the food that has brought true life… forever.

Isaiah 40:29

“He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.” (NASB)

STRONGS HEBREW/GREEK ORIGINS

“He gives (nathan: deliver, grant, yield, bring, cause, utter, send, appoint, bestow, permit, ascribe, devote, extends) strength (koach or kowach: power, might, force, ability) to the weary (ya`eph: faint, fatigued) and increases the power of the weak ('own: lacking strength, might and vigor).”

SUMMARY

God ascribes and sends power and might to the weary and fatigued ones and increases the strength of those lacking in might and vigor.

MEDITATION

Do you ever feel weary and weak? Do you ever feel that you’re lacking in strength and vigor? Yes? Well great! You’re a perfect candidate for God to bestow His power and strength upon. When you’re up, run to Him. When you’re down, run to Him. When you’re strong, run in Him. When you’re weak, run to Him. Get the point?

Psalm 49:7

“No man can by any means redeem his brother, or give to God a ransom for him.” (NASB)

STRONGS HEBREW/GREEK ORIGINS

“No man can by any means redeem (padah: deliver, ransom, rescue) his brother ('ach: brethren, another, kindred, kinship, same tribe), or give to God a ransom (kopher: satisfaction, bribe, sum of money, price of a life) for him.”

SUMMARY

No man can, by any means, rescue and deliver another, or give to God anything to purchase him.

MEDITATION

In my life, I’ve heard people go as far as saying, “I’d give my own life for them to know the Lord”. The fact is though, you cannot. Jesus Christ alone gave up Himself for all of mankind. He purchased, with the laying down of His life, the rescue that all men are in need of. I’m learning to remind myself often that no one comes to the Father unless He leads them. It is not my position to be the redeemer, I’m just to lead them to Him. Today, look for those who God alone can redeem and deliver and ask Him who He is drawing.

Psalm 47:8

“God reigns over the nations; God is seated on his holy throne.” (NASB)

STRONGS HEBREW/GREEK ORIGINS

“God reigns (malak: king, rule, set up, to counsel, advise) over the nations; God is seated (yashab: dwell, abide, inhabit, remain, set) on his holy (qodesh: sanctuary, dedicated, hallowed, consecrated, sacred) throne (kicce': seat of honor, stool, royal dignity, authority, power).”

SUMMARY

God is ruler over the nations; He inhabits His holy and sacred seat of honor, authority and power.

MEDITATION

The God of all Creation has no identity crisis. He is in absolute control and He knows it. While many don’t like to see God in such a manner, due to their carnal approach to Him, I say I’d have it no other way. Who should be in control? Who should rule and reign? You and I? I think not. Today, take the time to acknowledge that God reigns from His holy sanctuary and nothing that ever was, is and ever will be must pass through Him first.
