Matthew 4:11

“Then the devil left [Jesus]; and behold, angels came and began to minister to Him.” (NASB)

STRONGS HEBREW/GREEK ORIGINS

“Then the devil left (aphiemi: forsake, let alone, went away, departed) [Jesus]; and behold, angels came (proserchomai: come unto, draw near, approached) and began to minister (diakoneo: serve, attendant, wait upon, take care of) to Him.”

SUMMARY

Then the devil departed Jesus and left Him alone; and behold, angels approached and drew near; they then began to attend to Jesus and take care of Him.

MEDITATION

Jesus was undoubtedly in a position of testing immediately after the Holy Spirit descended upon Him at His baptism. He was “led up by the Spirit” into the wilderness to meet the devil face to face. Of course we know that Jesus refuted and overcame the devils offers and divisive questions. At the conclusion of these events, we find today’s verse. Would you also like the devil to leave you alone and then have that be followed up with angels sent to minister especially to you? You can if you respond as Jesus did! Resist. Speak the Word. Confidently know who you are, Whose you are and what you stand on. Victory is sure for those who are willing to deny their own fleshly desires in order to achieve it!
