Hebrews 5:13

“For everyone who partakes only of milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, for he is a babe.” (NKJV)

“For everyone who partakes (met echo: take part in, use) only of milk (gala: a metaphor for the less difficult Christian truths ) is unskilled (apeiros: without any experience or inexperienced) in the word of righteousness (dikaiosune: condition acceptable to God; integrity, virtue, purity of life, rightness, correctness of thinking, feeling, and acting), for he is a babe (nepios: child, childish, infant, little child, not of age, untaught, unskilled).”

SUMMARY

For everyone who only takes part in the simple things of God is inexperienced in knowing what is acceptable to God, for he is a childish, unskilled and untaught infant.

MEDITATION

Where is your maturity level in Christ today? How do you even know? Do you gauge the depth of your walk by comparing yourself to others or do you live motivated by the Word alone? Today, it’s my prayer that you move out deeper into the truths of God. Evaluate your spiritual maturity by the Word of God alone. It is your sole responsibility to be found skilled and experienced in His deep truths - we are all without excuse.
